Details | SKETCHING OPEN SCIENCE: MAPPING IDEAS WITH DRAWINGS & CARTOONS Sharpen your pencils and minds. In this workshop we would like to explore how messages around Open Science can be communicated through visualisations and cartoons. We will brainstorm together, e.g. how data management can go wrong, how openness offers a solution, etc. Patrick Hochstenbach, digital architect at Gent University Library, will guide us on how to get started with sketching and how to further shape first drafts. We will show how ideas can be visualised using simple cartoon techniques. You don’t need to be an artist. If you can draw a stick figure and a square, then you can create visual graphics. Based on the simple introduction into drawing we will create a catalog of symbols that can be used to express any idea in Open Science. Using these symbols we will ask to group to create a small poster and express a topic in Open Science. If you would like to join the workshop please register until Thursday, 21 September 2017, through the link. |
