Sneha is an economist and a demographer. Her research lies in the fields and at the intersection of health, gender, and development in the global South, and in particular South Asia. She took her PhD in Health Economics from the Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, in 2023. For her dissertation, she carried out a time use survey in Bangladesh to study gender differences in time use among couples with young children and the effect of access to free daycare centers on these gender differences. Sneha’s research has appeared in the Journal of Development Studies, Journal of Human Resources, and Social Science and Medicine-Population Health. Prior to receiving her PhD, Sneha worked as a consultant in leading multilateral organizations such as the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank and in research positions in the development sector in organizations such International Centre for Research on Women, and Oxford Policy Management in New Delhi. She joined CeMIS at the University of Göttingen as a postdoctoral fellow in 2023 where she will focus on publishing her dissertation research and expanding her research.
